The Shimmer is a highly magical creature, which manifests itself as a glowing orb that floats freely through both air and solid objects. Often mistaken for a firefly, the Shimmer mesmerizes and entoxicates the careless unlooker with its riot of colours, feeding from mental energies untill its victim is reduced to a drooling, senseless idiot.

Shimmers usually appear at quiet places that linger of magical residue. Ancient and forgotten Asgardian battlegrounds, private libraries and ruins of lost cities are some examples. The Shimmer has little power over a strong-willed person, and simply ignoring it will often drive its attention elsewhere.
