The spark is a mutation that makes it possible for people to use Primordial Magic .
People are either born with the spark or not. There are some rumours about certain effects that can cause the spark after birth but no known consistent way to cause the spark after birth has been found.
But several factors have been found that influence the chance of children being born with the spark:
- Grandparents and Parents that have the spark
- Your race (elves and fae have a higher chance, even when all other factors are the same)
- Primordial flow stability in the area at the moment of conception
- Primordial flow stability in the area during the length of the pregnancy
- Primordial flow wavelength in the area at the moment of conception
- Primordial flow wavelength in the area during the length of the pregnancy
- How many spells are cast around or by the pregnant person
- How far north you are during the length of the pregnancy
- Devotion to Danu of the parents
- There are several more unexplained factors
