The Walking Stone is a primitive creature from ancient times. Ranging in size from 50 cubic centimeters to a full 3 cubic meters, these vicious insectoids thank their name to the stone-like chrysalis which protects thier soft internal organs. They hybernate during late summer, fall and winter, finding a shallow pond or march and rectacting their heads and limbs, so that only their rock-like shell is visible. Indeed, one could easily pass a Walking Stone without noticing it.
In late spring they burst from their hiding places, grazing upon the forest edges and meadows. They are known to eat acres of forestground in a matter of weeks, their sharp pincirs eating through wood and grass alike. They respond agressively towards any who approach them. Thankfully they rarely appear in civilised areas and only eat and breed during the hottest of months, then the sun is able to warm up their thick bodies enough to support their metabolism.
