The banking guild is an old alliance between the banks of Midgard and currently the most powerful organization of Midgard. They are also rumoured to be the most wealthy organization on Heimr.
Leadership
The banking guild is currently led by The Undain family . It's current leader is .
The Undain bank, the currently most powerful bank within the guild, rules the guild by grace of the other banks. If the other banks would band together they could overrule the bank of the Undain family.
Voting on guild issues is done trough a series of votes in which the amount of votes a bank has is determined by it's wealth. The Undain bank has the most wealth at the moment and therefore wins the vast majority of the votes, together with two banks that usually vote with the Undain family.
Sovereignty of Midgard
After the destruction of monarchic rule by the lorekeepers at Ul-Targash during Talor his test, the power vacuum left by the Stonecold family was quickly assimilated by the guild because the family had many outstanding depths with the various banks. Having played the banks against each other till now, the family no longer possessed divine backing as rightful rulers of Midgard. This marks to formation of the banks as a whole, mainly to be strong in their claim to the wealth of the Stonecolds.
The other candidate for rule of Midgard where of course the lorekeepers themselves, but Talor his demons descended in fury as the owls tried to seize power. The lorekeepers interest could, in the eyes of the angry god, not be so boldly entwined with that which they should be research and document instead of ruling.
This left the banking guild as the logical successor of the throne, and with the financial backing to pay the now deserting armies of Midgard the nation was quickly put under martial law for months on end until all riots and revolts where subdued trough the use of the dwindling traditional military and the first large scale use of mercenaries by Midgard.
